Wildly Rooted…

Welcome to Wildly Rooted! This blog is the musings of a 22 year old madly in love with Jesus and a heart for adventure. A lifestyle of living wildly rooted is a life of being planted in the Lord and the fullness of the joy found in and with Him.

What does it mean to be planted in the Lord? It means having a relationship with God. In the beginning of time, God created the heavens and the earth. He created the oceans and spoke over the earth, “Let there be light,” and there was light. Every single living thing scurrying the earth and in the ocean. He then made man and woman in His image. We were created to live in closeness to God and to have sovereignty over the earth. As Adam and Eve were in the Garden of Eden, they walked with God, having conversations, walking with Him in the cool of the day. They had every single thing they needed and lived in friendship with God, unashamed and unafraid. They were given one instruction, not to eat from the tree of knowledge of good and evil, but the devil came in the form of a snake and convinced Eve that she should eat the apple because “God knows that your eyes will be opened as soon as you eat it, and you will be like God, knowing both good and evil,” (Genesis 3:5). So, she and Adam both ate the fruit, sinning against God, and immediately, they became aware of their nakedness, physically and spiritually, and created distance between God and them, grabbing fig leaves to cover themselves and hiding from God. Because of sin, the law was created to try and earn righteousness (right-standing) with God. But the law was impossible to fully follow, and even the teachers of the religious law did not fully meet the expectations of these laws. But God, in His kindness, has consistently pursued relationship with His creation - His sons and daughters whom He loves. This is shown with Jesus.

“(16) For this is how God loved the world: He gave His one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life. (17) God sent His Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him.” Jesus came in the form of a human and lived a perfect, sinless and blameless life, faced unjust death on the Cross, died the worst death imaginable, and three days later, rose from the grave. The death and resurrection means He did not stay dead. He bought our freedom, our healing,  defeated death, shame, and shed His blood to fulfill the law and completely restore man to God. To live in closeness just as the Garden. He is as much alive today as the times of the Bible.

Jesus has changed my life. For the past 5 years, I have been completely transformed. For years, I was diagnosed with anxiety, having panic attacks nearly every single day. A life of pain, anger, shame, and fear left me to go through life without hope and letting life happen to me. It wasn't until I knew my need for something more and experienced Jesus for myself that I knew what it meant to breathe, to love and be loved, to have true peace no matter the circumstance. He completely freed me. I went back to my therapist and told her what I had experienced and 5 years later, I have never had a panic attack since.

A lifestyle of being rooted in knowing I am a daughter of God who is loved, who is enough. Who has the Holy Spirit living inside of me and a life, not just worth living, but exciting to live. I am not working for God’s approval or love. He gave it and continues to give it freely. I am planted in His kindness. Planted in His goodness. I choose to be rooted wherever I am, unafraid of change or pain of leaving my place of comfort to follow where God is calling me. Here’s to staying wild. Falling in love with Jesus and the beauty found in every corner of the earth.

xx Sam
