Life Lessons - Second Course
I. Waiting is hard, but operating out of His grace is harder. Like the image of two oxen yoked together (the wooden beam that pairs animals together to pull a load), if one goes one way and one the other, the weight falls on one’s shoulders and both feel stuck. It is not the same as saying act rashly nor is it saying to sit back and do nothing, but trust and ask where He is and where He wants you to go.
II. Some of the most courageous things to say :
“I don’t know”
“Help”
III. To have authority in something, you must do it and experience it with God. That means, taking risks, stepping out. If you want to see more healing - pray for people. If you want to be better at public speaking, start with friends and family. Steps and ownership must be taken to grow.
IV. Encouragement is counter-cultural these days. Don’t overlook the power of encouraging someone. It is easy to point out flaws and weaknesses. It is like Jesus to call out strengths and speak as He sees them.
V. Rest is not passive. Rest is also active. You can be operating in rest and be actively doing something. Rest is a posture of heart and state of mind.
VI. Not everyone will understand you. And that’s ok.
VII. Boundaries do not mean you don’t value people, but it is because you value people as well as yourself.
