Life Lessons…
I. The power of listening is just as, if not more important than anything you could say. Most people don’t actually need an answer, but someone to listen, which leads them to not just an answer, but experience. Obviously, wisdom is important, but to create trust, people must know you care about them.
II. The dinner table is the greatest sanctuary with some of the most powerful sermons.
III. Community is crucial. God did not create us to do life alone. The whole purpose of why humans were created was for connection - to God and to others.
IV. Having fun is not a reward. Fun should be a priority just as any other priority. In order to live in health mentally, physically, and spiritually, we are required to have fun and rest. Setting aside time for fun is not irresponsible or abandoning other things.
V. The cost of being authentic is nothing compared to the cost of pretending to be someone or something we are not. Going into a situation with the goal to network or promote yourself may get you the results you were looking for, but leave you empty, alone, and feeling unknown. It is exhausting. Going into a situation completely yourself, although vulnerable, creates real connections and allows people to know who you are outside of what you do. It is sustainable because it is real and takes the pressure off of your shoulders to be anything but you.
VI. Stewardship. The definition of this being, managing everything God brings into the believer's life in a manner that honors God. One way to do this, WRITE EVERYTHING DOWN. Journal, document, type it out. Even if it is only a few minutes a few times a week, you will never regret it. And go through your old journals or writings. Look how far you have come with God, what you have seen, how you spoke and thought.
